LANWADES leases ARCHIPENKO
to stand Southern Hemisphere seasons at
Haras La Quebrada in Argentina

ARCHIPENKO at Lanwades

The leading International miler, Group 1 winner ARCHIPENKO, whose winnings on three continents totalled £1,255.000 (US $2,010,000) and included 5 Group races, has been leased by Lanwades Stud to stand at Argentina's leading stud farm, Haras La Quebrada, 17 times the Champion breeders of that country.

ARCHIPENKO will join leading sires LUHUK, MUTAKDDIM, GRAND REWARD, INDYGO SHINER and EL CORREDOR at La Quebrada, which was previously the home of the outstanding, 10-times Champion Sire SOUTHERN HALO, now the leading broodmare sire in Argentina for the last 8 years.

ARCHIPENKO, whose first crop are now yearlings in the Northern Hemisphere, is a beautifully-bred son of KINGMAMBO, from the world's leading sire-producing family. He is closely related to SADLER'S WELLS, NUREYEV, FAIRY KING and US Champion BLAME, whose first foals arrive this year.

Kirsten Rausing, General Manager of Lanwades Stud, said: "We are of course delighted to instigate this co-operation with one of South America's leading stud farms. Haras La Quebrada has been at the very forefront of the important Argentine Thoroughbred industry for over 65 years, and it has bred the winners of more than 200 South American Group One races. ARCHIPENKO will be given excellent opportunities there, and we welcome this opportunity for two independent stud farms to co-operate at the very top level of International Thoroughbred breeding".

ARCHIPENKO will enter quarantine in mid-June and he will return to Lanwades before Christmas, in good time for the 2013 Northern Hemisphere breeding season.
